Jacqueline Borman DPT

Jacqui earned her Masters and Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Neumann University. Her passion for physical therapy began during her own rehab to her knee while playing highschool and college sports. She began her career at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, however, her love was always in outpatient physical therapy and in 1998 she found her place at Sports and Back Rehabilitation. In 2012, Jacqui became a co-owner of Sports and Back and is proud to continue the beliefs this company has maintained since 1987, which is “providing one on one treatment through manual therapy, functional exercises/activity and education”. Her goal is to help others learn to improve and move their bodies in a way that will allow them to participate and enjoy the activities they love to do throughout their lifetime. Jacqui is married and has two daughters. During her free time, she enjoys swimming, spending time with her friends and family, and watching her girls play soccer and basketball.

Tina Mathew DPT, MBA

Tina is an alumni of Bensalem High School Class of 1996. She received her B.S. in General Biology from PennState University, University Park. She went on to get her Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy and her MBA with a concentration in Health Administration from Widener University.
While taking classes at PennState’s Abington Campus, her anatomy teacher encouraged her to volunteer at Abington Memorial Hospital. It was there she got to witness the true rewards of the physical therapy profession.
As a physical therapy aide, she met a 30 year old named Sandy who suffered a severe stroke. This stroke left Sandy unable to walk, talk, or really do anything for herself. Day after day, Tina would transport Sandy back and forth in a wheelchair to and from therapy. On the way, she would talk to Sandy even though it was a one sided conversation. Day after day, the rehab team and Sandy kept trying to make some functional gains. Sandy made slow, minimal progress. Some days Sandy would respond well and other days not at all. After some time, it seemed there was no hope for further progress.
One particular day, Sandy wasn’t participating in her Rehab session so Tina was asked to take Sandy back to her room. Not wanting to leave her alone, Tina decided to stay with Sandy until the nurse was able to get her situated. Tina asked Sandy if she wanted to watch TV but no response. So Tina decided on the Price is Right because who didn’t love Bob Barker?
The nurse finally stopped in to tell Tina she would be in soon and that she could head had back to the rehab gym. Before Tina left Sandy, she took Sandy’s hand and told her “I know things are hard for you, but I am praying for you.” At that moment, tears started streaming down Sandy’s face. The patient that was sent back to her room for being non-responsive, responded in the only way she knew how.
Sandy and the patients like her are the reasons why Tina became a Physical Therapist. To give hope to hopeless, encourage the discouraged, and help those in pain.
Tina has been working at Sports and Back Rehab (SABR) on and off since 2002. She started as a physical therapy aide and came back as a PT Student while at Widener University. Once she graduated, she agreed to help cover hours for a PT on maternity leave. After passing her boards, she decided to take a full-time job at outpatient dept at Frankford Bucks. At the same time, she got offered a full time position at SABR and never left. She went on to get her PT direct access license, to give patients a more cost effective and easier access to PT services. Ten years after starting her journey at SABR, she was given the option of becoming a co-owner.
The journey was long, and there were successes and failures along the way but she truly believes everything happens for reason. Nothing in life that is worth while happens without support, perseverance and dedication. She is grateful for the opportunity to help make a positive difference in people’s lives and hope to do so for years to come.
